The ESA got an eyeful of the Northern New England District this year in Belmar, New Jersey as the TEAM NNE brought home hardware with 10 of the team racking up Finalist placings and earning a slot in the ESA Championships in September. Team Director Lenny Nichols and his assistants did the best they could under trying conditions (again) by keeping all the competitors cool before during and between heats. The results are in the pudding.
The competition was solid in every division again this year as once again the NE Regionals were blessed with good to great surf. It's truly amazing to luck out with such good contestable waves for these contests. We all know it's a crap shoot when it comes to predicting surf. Yet somehow the Northeast has been hitting the mark. Let's hope the trend continues because there's a very good chance, the next Regional will be held here in New England. You heard right. Here in New Hampshire or Maine. So pray for surf and get practicing because those kids down south can surf their little butts off.
